Hello all!
New to this forum... just discovered it yesterday.
Came over from the Rebel forum because it seems like to get any help over there, you need to become a donor, and that didn't sit right with me.
So far, I've been able to dodge the 60% update and the killer update pushed by Verizon yesterday. No update pending, 100% battery, Note 7 working perfectly!
...so far...
that's where this post comes in. I'm guessing that many of us are not yet eligible for using the Alliance shield. (I want to add it even though I've been successful so far - can't be too safe.)
However, until then, seems like many of us are using similar package disablers that allow us to pick specific packages to block.
Here is my list of blocked items. I hope this will help others, especially those who can't get Shield yet but are using some kind of package disabler.
Maybe some of you will tell me that some of the items I'm disabling are not necessary. Maybe you'll tell me I've missed some. Either way, it should be helpful to people.
Best of Luck to us all!

Hey, to get the sheild shield all you need to do is post 5 helpful comments. Browse a little, read through some problems, offer some advise. Boom, you're at 5 posts before you know it. Then you can download the sheild and activate it.

Thanks for your response, Catwoman! Been reading all over about how much you've helped people through this mess. You are definitely appreciated by many...Catwoman wrote:5757 N7R XML cripples your phone. With our methods you get to keep your phones full functionality while being protected.
Yes, I figured my phone might have been locked down a little too tight... So far, I haven't found anything that has been crippled, but I know that's a possibility.
I wish I'd have found the Alliance site a few days earlier (found it on the 5th). Since I've managed to dodge the Verizon updates completely, I'm pretty paranoid about removing my current package disabler and installing another (the Shield) right now.
just to clarify, the package disabler I'm using is not the one the Note 7 rebels currently use. (It's one that some on their site used to use, though.) And the xml is not exactly their xml file either. It's kind of a combination of stuff I already had by reading forums, then I used their xml as a checklist, and I added some more things, but theirs has a couple of items I didn't find on my phone, and vice-versa. Then I exported from my phone to generate that list... again, probably locked down too tight.
I don't know if you know the answer, but how often is that update pushed from Verizon? In other words, if I was to uninstall my current package disabler so I could change over to Shield, how long would I have to get Shield installed before that update hit my phone? A day? An hour? A matter of seconds??? Do you think they'll stop trying to push it in a few days or so? How will we know when they quit trying?
(I saw a couple of posts where people say they see the download pending on their phones, but don't think it is "forced", so they think they're protected? I don't think that's good... they have the download and it will eventually try to install itself...)
Anyway, any insights appreciated. Thank you for your time! YHVH Bless you!

We have no idea when, how long or with what frequency the carriers will push these updates. The shield will prevent you from the update. The checklist there will walk you through how to get the shield without getting hit with the update
