Alright, we all know that Verizon is going to do anything they can to get us to return the note 7. The question is, does anyone know how to fake the network into thinking we are using another phone? I thought i saw something on here about changing your IMEI number, but can't find it now.

I'm in Australia where the Telcos have all been coerced by Samsung into imposing an IMEI block on outgoing voice calls that switch to a Telco message that the device is blocked; and for incoming callers, they get switched to a message that the called party is not available and they can leave a short 10 second sms that does get sent to the called device.
Interesting!

They are not cooperating, Not only do they intend to charge us full price for the devices, but they are also planning to remove ALL NOTE 7s from service starting on the 1/26/07... Yes, this is an IMEI ban. They are using our IMEIs to identify our phones and redirect all non-911 calls to Verizon to force us to exchange these devices.

I have escalated my complaint with the FCC saying it did not solve the problem.. and let them know the new information.
I just called Verizon, informed the rep that I too was recording this phone call... she almost hung up on me, but I asked her to just stay on the line and listen... I pleaded my case, asked for some extra time to find a suitable replacement, please work with me, etc. Then I mentioned that I would take legal action if they did indeed shut down my business line. She could not respond, but did stay on the line and listen and thanked me. I don't know if it will do any good, but the call did record fine.

This doesn't bold well for you VZW customers.. I think the problem is they paid you all back when the recall hit because they assumed everyone wouls turn in their phones and that didn't happen.

I've got Sprint and the txt msgs have stopped for 3 days now. Also they didn't reimburse people like VZW did. I'm hoping that they don't do something like this as well!

and thanks for posting your journey.

The IMEI block should only affect the Note 7.
I'm able to switch my SIM card to other mobile devices and my Telco services work as contracted on those non-blocked mobiles.

Telstra had a CDMA service in the late 1990-2000s and I remember it was a pain as I had to register, de-register each phone when carrying out experiments with a range of devices - is that the Verizon experience?

Do you have an older mobile (CDMA) you can switch your service too?
IF so you could possibly switch active mobile device and physically retain the Note 7 pending a no-cost Samsung replacement that offers the same functionality as the Note 7 - in my case S-pen -and- 256GB removable storage -and- IRIS identification necessary for some trials work I'm doing.
Sadly no I don't & Thank you fit the response. Are you outside the usa?

Does your data still work. If it does couldn't you use a VoIP app for phone (calls)?

I've decided to jump 3rd party for a while since the wave of new phones is not that far away... all the best to everyone.

I would switch carriers, but I am with my wife and brother on a plan with a corporate discount.

If this is indeed the end for N7, what are y'all switching too in the meanwhile? I still find nothing that I like nearly as well.

Same here, but thankfully it is hub's line that secures the disc. So I can bounce without penalty on his behalf.

My problem is cancellation fees if I leave for another carrier. With my 3 lines it will run me over $800...fucking ridiculous.

I would literally have to pay for another phone outright and get my money back for returning my Note 7. Then after my contracts are up on my other two lines, cancel and move to Tmobile.

That's wow.
When is your date? I'm still trying to figure out why they're giving random dates & how those dates are assessed?

If I am forced off of my Note 7 will probably pickup a Samsung J3, $7/mo $168 purchase until Galaxy S8 or even Note 8 is out.

Like was said above as long as data still works after the Verizon call block you can still make calls as normal (with your current number as caller ID) through voip apps like Google Hangouts dialer. Try it out, I have mine installed and ready to use, would at least work over wifi but I don't think it has been mentioned that 4g would be blocked so should be able to use it everywhere...

Not sure about incoming calls, i wonder if call forwarding would still work even if your imei were blocked?
Forward to a Google voice number or something...

On another note can they charge us full price for our phone line if THEY are not providing basic call service?
