Let's hope that we are... im hoping to keep this great phone until/if the Note 8 is released. Hopefully its not just wishful thinking.

I have the shield and my phone is still working. However I keep getting a message showing latest update is ready to install. There is also a message indicator on my settings icon. When you go into setting there is a message at the top asking you to tap to install latest update. Today my screen color has become a little tainted (brownish). When I restart my phone it goes back to normal color for a few seconds and then I can feel a slight vibration and then the brownish tinge comes back.

Seems the download did happen before your shield was active.
If the update is alredy downloaded and ready to install then you have to do this below to get rid of it, otherwise you risk it's intallting itself.

After that you've to follow the instructions to install and activete the shield again.

Yup, I got the update yesterday, my Shield was activated and everything, I need to go through the removal process :( smh

Hi guys very grateful for this forum i have an unlocked note 7 from sprint but i have it in airplane mode no sim in it yet my question is how can i stop the update from coming through without connnecting to internet to get the package disabler

the reason am asking is because i know once i connect the phone to the internet to download the app sprint will push the update through

I would put it on an sdcard and install it from the sdcard to your phone less time online.

Chelsy, I tried that approach yesterday and ran into an issue that unless I registered the SD-card as internal storage, I could not access the file AllianceShield0.5.8.apk file as an application, which my search suggested was now the way marshmallow works.
I therefore broke cover for a few minutes and downloaded the file to my Note 7 - and all appears to be well with the Shield up.
Your advice please...

I ran into the same issue, and just got ride of the "Kill Update" by following the instructions here viewtopic.php?f=14&t=71, but before I started I put the Sheild APK on my laptop, and dragged it to my phone and then the only time I had to go online was to sign into my Note7Alliance account to activate the Shield. I seem to be good for now, postponed "Kill update" is gone, and the Sheild is activated, only thing I havn't inserted my SIM card yet, that will be the last test.

I have been doing great on Sprint just clicking "Later" a few times a day to the green batt update since September. It has probably been key that I have had a couple things related to updates turned off since the issues started.

I am just now starting to feel like I can last until S8 if not N8. I might even stick the 256GB card in it.
