Hey there N7Aers,
I probably should have posted this myself a few days ago. I too have another way of blocking these updates. I use package disabler Pro. Keypoint: you must use version 6.3 which has since been retired! On my Sprint Note 7, I have disabled the following bundles which you will see in the screenshot. Hope that helps.
PS: you do not need to disable the Badge Provider bundle if you do not want to. I simply disable that to get rid of the update notifications for emails and text messages it etc. All the rest are for preventing Samsung updates to my phone.

Thanks for this. I'm hoping that all of these "fixes" work. I don't want to lose my Note 7's functionality.

Unfortunately the 6.3 version of the package disabler pro isn't able to get a licence anymore if you install it now. Older licence still working if not re-installed, and also still working if licence got lost by any way but the samsung apps still will be blocked as long you don't touch the admin-rights of the disabler. It's like this with my n7, I can't reach any of the settings of the app because of having lost licence, but all the blockings are still working fine. In addition, just in case, I rooted my n7 with twrp and su because I heard of that would make it easier to flash a custom rom in case the update comes through in any way..Gdspwilson wrote:7038 Hey there N7Aers,

@fpresiado: I'm also on the sec gen phone and would like to try the firewall in addition. Are there any special settings I've to take care of? Thanks for offering and thanks for your help
edit:
...just tried the firewal, seems to work quite good and easy, just install and let it ask for permission once any app tries to have internet access. Doesn't need root, but seems to work with rooted phone as well.

I believe the way to get around that (I'm on 6.3 myself) is to buy the current version. Then uninstall it. Then sideload 6.3. Does this not work?x35 wrote:7389Unfortunately the 6.3 version of the package disabler pro isn't able to get a licence anymore if you install it now. No, 6.3 won't activate anymore. The developer changed the licensing, so you can't activate 6.3 with actual license. Even if you've bought 6.3 and loose license (by uninstall for example), you can't get back to working if installing again.juliesdroidsync wrote:7520I believe the way to get around that (I'm on 6.3 myself) is to buy the current version. IMO, while understanding the reasons(legal) why the developer updated PD, it still negates the fact the we obtained a specific license for a specific version and it should be honored for that. If you have to reinstall an application that you paid for, no matter the reason, then you should be allowed to if you do not want to update/upgrade. Either refund the purchaser or release the application from license verification, but forcing them to update/upgrade is not right!beowulf381 wrote:7538No, 6.3 won't activate anymore.
