I'm fortunate that it Verizon hasn't pushed the update on me yet. It's currently waiting to be installed but I've managed to ignore it like I did the 60% update. Definitely shouldn't have waited until the last minute to find a way to circumvent the update, lol.

They are most certainly doing the nasty update. I was SHOCKED that Verizon of all companies took a stand on not doing it. That lasted about 3 days until they stayed true to (lack of) character and caved to Samsung. Your talking about the original carrier that locked bootloaders and did everything in their power to stop users from rooting devices. As far as Verizon is concerned you have zero rights to the device. Screw you and the fact that you paid for it. If its on their network you have no rights to the device. I wouldn't PAY them for it since they won't relinquish their iron grip. Trust me. I worked for the bastards for years.

This is just semantics, but if you are ignoring a message then the update HAS been pushed and is sitting on your device. I would take some serious actions to delete it instead of just ignoring it. After enough "not now" responses on your part it will probably go ahead and run. I would hate to wake up and find that it ran. Please try to determine if the code has been downloaded and find a way to wipe it. Good luck.

Has it forced installed on anyone's phone yet? I don't have the shield but haven't got any update notification either? Do you know if it's rolling out over a period of time?

I haven't run the shield yet, but I did set myself up with an earlier version of package disabler. I have not received any update notification.

i think they should just release a software update that opens the maps with a direction to the nearest Samsung store and a ticking timer until the phone explodes.

On Jan 5th I called Verizon about a bill issue. Once issue was resolved the Verizon rep proceeded to warn me about upcoming Samsung 0% battery firmware update. She made it 100% clear that the update wasn't coming from Verizon but 100% from Samsung & that she didn't know exactly when it was coming. I then asked if I was required to accept the update, she said no. Unexpectedly I got the feeling that Verizon was on my side & they realize the ridiculouslness of what Samsung is doing to the remaining Note 7 owners. Why isnt signing/completing some sort of simple release of liability (not holding Samsung liable if I the consumer choose to continue using a "defective" device) an option for us? What are consumer rights as it pertains to this debacle? I've had my note 7 for over 6 months now without any issues whatsoever. Could I not state the claim that my device is not defective. Most/all battery explosions happened within weeks of the phones release, not months later...

DroidXCalibur wrote:5362 As I understand it; verizon only postponed the update, but it is happening. ....even if it isn't, i'd protect myself JUST IN CASE! Verizon is a nasty company; however, their coverage is the only game in town where I am. I wouldn't be surprised if they SAY they aren't going to push the update; and then, do it anyway...just because they can. ...kind of like getting rid of the unlimited data plans and going to the tiered payment plans: screw you customers, i'm a greedy bastard! ...hey verizon: I still have an unlimited data, a note 7 that you can't push an update on to, and most of all: ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐
We also still have unlimited data through Verizon, all four Note 7's (2 1st series, 2 replacements) all with the update blocker, mine has the shield downloaded, but I haven't had time to uninstall the blocker to activate the shield. Also at 100% on all phones as we dont install the updates, ever. Lol

My carrier is also Verizon. My tactics so far are just ignoring the update every day. I know it is annoying having to see that message every single day but my n7 is worth it.

I am waiting to have access to install the shield. I am currently running on bk disabler which seemed to do the trick for now.
