Hi,
Had some problems installing Shield 3. Had attempted to do the install bass-ackwards the first 6 or so times before reading the instructions. During a break between failure and success SAMSUNG UPDATE was downloaded and attempted to install.
I avoided it and successfully installed the Shield 3 package but now have encountered NO GOOGLE BACKUP / RESTORE or SAMSUNG SMART SWITCH AVAILABLE.
I attempted to run SMART SWITCH via the PC but it came up as NO BACKUP RESTORE AVAILABLE ....NEW SAMSUNG UPDATE AVAILABLE.

My guess is to go all the way back and delete the update and then reinstall the Shield 3 package.... I'm I thinking the right way????

Thanks Everyone

What measures have you done to prepare shield 3 install? Did you reset your phone?

If the update is downloaded and ready to install, the only way to get rid is a factory reset.
When done, you're ready to install and activate shield x (v3) again.

Once again I did the factory reset (sim / sd cards out), Copied over the apk, installed, then went through the adb, Fired it up, logged on, activated, went to backup & reset, and came upon .... Backup service not available......

I AM UNABLE TO RESORE

Me again,
I got it to restore. I went out and found a Smart Switch.apk growing out in the wild. I d/l'ed and installed. Problem semi-solved.
I'm still trying to figure out why Google backup/restore is locked out...... Just freeze this for posterity....... So I can reflect on something else in my life I screwed up. I'm one of the best "bad examples" I know.
