Solid Explorer no longer works as Samsung pulled the license's so as of right now Shield v2 is your option for blocking updates, unless you have proof of pre-order for the S8/S8+. If so then you can be a beta tester for Shield v3gorath wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2017 3:15 am Hello, what's the difference between installing the Shieldv2 for Note 7 vs. the instructions in the thread titled, "Solid Explorer- How to Block Samsung Updates"

@gorath
That's not quite correct. Solid Explorer works, also for Note 7. It's not affected by Samsung.
But package disablers, like PDP, BK or S Package disabler won't work cause of Samsungs measures.
You can use Solid Explorer, but you have to do the over-installation of update packages manually and have to choose the correct ones for your device.
So Shield v2 is much more comfortable, as it does this automatically.

Thanks so much for the quick response; I did the Shield v2 method last night and seems to be working great so far. Good to know it does everything that the post on Solid Explorer does; I was just curious since I already had Solid Explorer as one of my Apps I use for file management on my phone; but since Shield v2 did everything automatically, I just went with that easier option =)

@beowulf381 Thanks for clarifying I thought it was another one of the package disablers that Samsung pulled license's for. We all have something to learn

I know this sounds weird but the best test to see if it is working is to to see what happens when you try to update your phone. Either an error or nothing should happengorath wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2017 1:35 pm Thanks so much for the quick response; I did the Shield v2 method last night and seems to be working great so far.
