Possible SNAG With Solid Explorer Block Method!!!

I tried the Solid Explorer method to block the KILL Update described in 'How to Block Note7 Update [Updated 1.16.2017]'. AND I had a potentially weird result.

I used Solid Explorer CLASSIC which allows access to the ROOT folder BY DEFAULT. That is, I didn't have to go into settings to enable access to the Root folder.

I used Solid Explorer Classic's Package Installer to open SOAGent.apk. THEN I got a message screen that said "SOFTWARE UPDATE: Do you want to install an update to this built-in application? Yout existing data will not be lost. It does not require any special access." Followed by buttons for 'Cancel' & 'Install'. I clicked Install. Next screen said: "Software Update: App Installed"

Did the above-described result supposed to happen? Did the Solid Explorer method work for me?

NEXT? Since my N7 is an ATT model, should I do the N7 Update Blocker zip now?

Thank you for helping to save endangered N7s.
And THANK YOU VERY MUCH for helping me and my beloved blue N7.
Tina

Use our solid explorer to ensure you get the correct result. And then after use the Note7 Update blocker since you have AT&T.

@catwoman -- OK. I will uninstall SE Classic. Then install N7A's version of SE File Explorer to perform the SE block procedure. NEXT and AFTERWARDS, I will use the N7 Update Blocker on my ATT N7.

I wondered if ATT N7s should skip the SE procedure and go straight to the N7 Update Blocker. I don't think the tutorial was very clear on that point.

AGAIN, A ZILLION THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND ADVICE.

TinaBear, I had a similar experience with my TMobile N7, although I did not use the Classic version of Solid Explorer as you did. The same update question came up when I installed the Sota and Fota agents ( I could not find the 3rd item to install) and so rather than install and have something terrible happen, I touched Cancel both times. I think I am fine but have not had the courage to enable wifi, just am using my N7 on mobile network. Hope you get everything sorted.

@TexasMom Due to some 'glitches', I decided to eschew N7A's Solid Explorer method in favor of using 'Debloater by GatesJunior' (which was briefly recommended by N7A last November).

The Debloater is highly effective. I used it to debloat packages, including the several update packages, in many Notes 2 to 5. Also, it is not affected by the KNOX license issue that killed the N7A Shield app for new users.

Anyway, I won't bore you with more details...because the Debloater utility does not work well on T-Mobile N7s.

I am so sorry that you can't safely access WiFi. I am sure there is a way to save a T-Mobile N7. I am unfamiliar with T-Mobile N7s...thus I can't advise you. BUT IF YOU CAN'T FIND THE ANSWER AT N7A, I strongly recommend visiting this place: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-7

As far me, I am doing brain surgery on my N7 at this moment...and in a few hours I will know if it all gets sorted out properly. Thank you for your kind wish. And I hope you manage to save your N7.

@TexasMom T-Mobile only has Soagent and Fotagent. As long as you installed both of those. You are good.

@TinaBear the reason why I recommend doing Solid Explorer before doing the ADB script is to provide a backup incase a mistake is made so that the update does not accidentally pushed through. Either way, I am glad you are protected.

Thank you both for being an Ally. <3
