The alliance shield appears to be working for me, but what do I do with it now that it is on?

Before I really begin, I should mention that I am on the Sprint network.

Firstly, thanks to all of you and your efforts to push back against the dangerous precedent which these companies are trying to set, and thank you for allowing us to continue to use our phones. This thing became one of my workhorses in very short order, and I would be moderately crippled if I were to lose it. But I come with questions and not just pleasantries or plaudits. I will begin by saying that my shield says that it is on. However, in spite of the shield being on, I still get the Samsung "Safety Recall Notice" whenever I plug my phone in. How can I activate that function, or is supposed to be a passive function of the shield which should be working if the shield was installed properly?

Also, is there a prescribed list of bloatware apps to disable, or do I just need to take a screenshot of all of the apps which I have to choose from, so we can go through them and see which can be disabled?

Also, awhile ago when I was taking the initial measures in order to protect the phone, I installed Solid Explored and disabled the auto-update function. Since then, I have been getting the message that "Unfortunately, Software update has stopped." I tried using Good Lock, but that did not solve the problem. Does the shield address this, or is there some other means which I can use in order to prevent this pop-up from assaulting my screen?

All of those problems went away when installed s package disabler and followed the instructions. You only mentioned the Solid explorer in the post and I did those two together. The instruction for the shield said to uninstall the disabler before I installed the shield... so the disabler no longer active on my phone. Hope I did that correctly. Seems to be working just fine so far, with no pop-up windows or notifications. To download and use the S package diabler I would assume you would have to briefly turn off the shield in airplane-mode to go through the proccess and uninstall before turning it back on. I'm not sure if this is the circumstance that you are encountering maybe it may help.

If the shield is installed properly you should not be getting any messages. The sheild will disable everthing that has to be disabled. As for the stuff in the bloatware that is all up to you what you want to disable all the critical packages will be taken care of on initial install.I want to make sure you shield is green correct

Yes, my shield is green. I never had a package disabler installed.

Edit:
So I uninstalled the shield and went through the process of using the S Package Disabler, then I uninstalled the S Package Disabler. Finally, I reinstalled the shield. I still receive the Safety Recall Notice. It's not particularly a big deal, but I am concerned that it may be a litmus test which is letting me know that I've not guarded myself properly.

I'm going through the same thing Abra. As long as I'm protected I suppose it's okay but I'd prefer not having any warnings. I'm using an original white-battery-logo note if it matters

If you go in and the shield shows green saying protected, you are fine.

Update:

So far, I have not been affected by the Samsung update. I am still able to charge my phone, and I have LTE coverage. In addition, I went through and began disabling more bloatware. I went through and blocked the packages for sprint phones found in the how-to below.

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=237

This did not help me, so I figured "why not begin looking for the packages found in other carrier's phones?" Sure enough, some of the packages found in other carrier's phones were found on my phone. I disabled those, but still not see a change. However, after I went to sleep and checked on my phone again, I saw I was no longer receiving the message which tells me that I am not receiving updates. I still get the message which lets me know the phone is unsafe and that I ought to make an appointment.

Edit: Thank you for the reassurance.

@Evan @Abra: Have you guys REVERSED the methods put in place by the previous method? (i.e. abd, re-enabling packages on previous package disablers before uinstalling, etc.)

Post screenshots of what your shield app looks like and I'll be able to give you better answer then.

I am not making an appointment with anyone. It is the phone which keeps suggesting that I do so.

I will do so later tonight. I should be clear that some of the changes which I made eliminated all pop-ups save for the one which pops up when I plug in the phone which, as I said earlier, is a trifle at worst. Still, I will post my shield screen so you may take a look.

Sounds good, let us know. I really have no idea what your last post says, but I'll hope that you figure everything out. Let us know if you have further questions.

Thanks a bunch.

Just re-read the
"re-enabling packages on previous package disablers before uinstalling"
part again and doubting myself...

Been a minute since I did it but thinking I may have fudged-up that part. Feel like I must have stumbled somewhere during the process and that might have been where.

@evan it appears to have worked. If it hadnt, the boxes on the main shield screen would not show up as they would be hidden by the abd script.
