Live video walkthrough:

Tools
-Windows PC (Sorry no Mac or Linux)
-USB Type C Cable
-Note 7

Files to download
-Winrar (32bit) (64bit or higher)
-Samsung Smart Switch for PC
-Your Note 7 Firmware
-Odin 3.12.3

Prepare Your PC
Winrar:
Go to the Winrar website and install the program onto your PC.
Drivers and Backup:
-Run Samsung Smart Switch for PC and install it onto your computer. Do not upgrade the Samsung Smart Switch program. The latest version does not have the Note7 drivers.
-Once the application has been installed, open the program on your PC.
-On your Note 7, go to Settings---> Developer Options---> Scroll down and turn on USB Debugging, OEM Unlock and Verify Apps via USB. If you do not have Developers Option, click here for instructions.
-Connect your Note 7 to the PC via your USB type C cable.
-Confirm your PC recognizes your phone. If you see this screen on your Samsung Smart Switch program then you are golden.

-Backup your phone by following the prompts.

Note 7 Firmware
-After you have downloaded the firmware, locate the file on your PC.
-Right click on the zip file and choose "Open with Winrar"
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/C ... dbt1ol.png
-Choose the "Extract To" button
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/C ... m3cjrb.png
-Make sure you are in the "General" tab
-Pay attention to the destination of where you are going to be extracting the files to. By default, it will create a folder right where your zip file is located.
-Make sure that in the "Update mode" section, the "Extract and replace files" is selected.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/C ... gu9sr7.png
-Here is an example of what it looks like when the files are extracted. There should be 4 or 5 files. These filed start with AP, BL, CP and CSC. *Some firmware have and extra file that starts with HOME_CSC. This file is useful because you can use this file instead of the CSC so that your data does not get erased when you flash the firmware.*

Odin:
-After you have downloaded the zip file then it is time to extract the flies like you did with your firmware above.
- After the files have been extracted, go to the folder and right click on "Odin3_v3.12.3"
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/C ... gygcmn.png
-Time to load the firmware onto Odin:
1. Press the BL button.
2.Locate the folder you extracted your files to.
3.Choose the file that starts with BL.
4.Choose "Open" so it loads onto Odin
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/C ... 01pi4d.png
-Repeat the steps for AP, CP and CSC buttons.
-*NOTE* Be patient with the AP file can take up to 10mins to load and Odin will freeze and it is not responding until it loads the AP.
-*NOTE* If your firmware has the file HOME_CSC, I recommend that you use that file vs CSC. That way your data won't erase when you are flashing. I still recommend backing up your phone because you never know what could happen during the flashing process.
Below is an example of the finish product when the firmware is loaded correctly. Please note that the file must match.

Prepare Your Note 7
-Make sure that USB Debugging, OEM Unlock and Verify Apps via USB are enabled in your Developer Options. If you are not sure, follow the steps here.
-If you have a package disabler installed in your phone, please enable all packages.
-Turn off your Note 7
-Flashing takes a lot of energy from your phone so please make sure it is charged up to 60% before we start.
-Remove you SIM card and SD card from your Note 7.
-While the phone is off, you will press 3 buttons at the same time and hold it until the screen turns blue with a Warning sign. The 3 buttons are Volume DOWN + Power + Home buttons.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/C ... 6srbdw.jpg
-Press Volume UP button to Continue. You will now enter Download Mode
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/C ... jrq6uk.jpg

Time to Flash
-Plug your Note 7 to your PC via your USB Type C cable. Wait 5-10 mins to make sure your PC recognizes your phone and all the drivers are configured. Please do not rush this step. If you do do, then you can potentially brick your phone.
-If Odin recognizes your phone, the 2 sections at the bottom will change.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/C ... rarumr.png
-Now Press the "Start" button.
-Be patient, this can take 15-20mins. If the process is successful, you will see the changes below. A green progress bar will start to fill under the word SYSTEM and a white progress bar will start to fill.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/C ... m6ednd.png
-When both of the bars fill you will get a green Screen that says it passed and you phone will show a screen saying that it is Erasing.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/C ... tiacfz.png
-After it finishes Erasing and then starts to reboot, unplug your phone from your computer.
-It can take a long time to reboot, be patient. Can take up to 5-10mins to get to the Welcome Screen.
-Follow the prompts on the Welcome screen. Do not connect to your WIFI, Restore your phone from a backup, or log into your Samsung or Google account. Your goal is to get to the Home Screen as soon as possible.
- Once you get to your Home Screen, turn on Airplane mode to prevent the update from happening.

Yes. I walked through the steps last night on my Verizon 930V and it worked perfectly. Back to 100% charge.

Am new here today and trying to learn about how to save my Note 7. Do I need to do this process before installing the V2 Alliance Shield app, or does that take the place of this? Also I saw a short thread about a V3 version. Should I just wait until that comes out? Or do I need to do the process described here to cancel the 60% update before I do anything else? Thank you for any advice. Edited for spelling.

I also am new. Same question as above: Do I need to do this as well as install the Shield? Is the shield a prophilactic to protect against future updates like the bricking and this process to fix the damage done?
