No you can also download it with tablet or phone, but if you have a phone thats unprotected against the updates yet, I'd recommend to disable Wifi and mobile data on your phone, use another device for download.and transfer to the note after this to install.

No need for this if you have the shield up and activated.
But if you are very scared feel free to go offline and wait for the success stories of others.... Sometimes it maybe nice to be not available for anyone.
