Ok so I am with verizon and I have downloaded bk disabler and still not sure if all the files are blocked that need to be.....i noticed when comparing what note 7 rebels did with the alliance method that I think there might be some files still active that shouldn't be so was wondering if you could post the list of the main files that have to be disabled in order for my note 7 not to get bricked with the ota update coming in 2 days.....i want to make sure I'm definitely protected from this as I don't want to get rid of this phone.....any help would be greatly appreciated....thanks for your time and effort in helping me keep the best phone out right now.

Why not just use the alliance shied shield and you do not have to worry about your BK Disabler. That is the easiest and most foolproof way then you can get rid of bk.Just a suggestion thanks

To download the shield, go here: http://note7alliance.com/viewforum.php?f=3

To up your post count (non-spam) go here: viewforum.php?f=7
Roam around the off topic section and find a few threads to reply to and engage in. It only requires having 5 posts, which isn't a big deal.

Enjoy :)

I'm not sure what you mean, but you should be on 0.5.7 -- no need to wipe anything if you were on 0.5.6. AutoUpdate should work from there.

I am still waiting for an answer to the main question in this post pertaining to the files that need disabled. What if the person does not want to install the Sheild? As doing so gives the person no control over which files are disabled and which ones are left alone. Along with the possibility of other code that may be written into the app that the lay user does not know about. (ie. code that performs tasks not specified to the public)

First, we havn't been ignoring you or the question. I have a life outside of this site and i enjoy it.

@jedtrek do you have an app installed on your phone that didnt come from Google/Samsung/Carrier. It is called trust. We want to put it on the play store but there are legal issues outside the scope of the discussion that prevent us from doing that so here we are.

Now your concern about what it disables. Not true. On the main screen all the packages that the shield disabled are displayed on red. Want one enabled click it. Too easy.

The company that created the Shield (yes that is right N7 Alliance, LLC. Is licensing the Shiled App from another company) was formed in 2010 and has been creating software for seven years. Why would they throw away their reputation on this app? They have worked with regional ISPs creating software to monitor their towers. This is not a fly by night operation.

Finally we have said over and over the only data collected is what can be found in the About Phone. We have stats all over this page created by them. We have close to 400 users. If there was malicious code it would have been discovered by now. We have been more than open about the app. Shoot we even posted a screen shot of the source code to show why some permissions were in the app

Bottom line, take the free software or not. I lose zero sleep and i am sure @aztek doesn't care if you don't trust us. We are here to help, take it or leave it.

If you have a legitimate concern PM us and we will talk privatly about it

@jedtrek - Furthermore, I'd have to say it's a little rude to just act as though we owe you the "list of packages to disable" at the snap of your finger because YOU don't trust the app we created for free to help you. So yeah, definitely not losing any sleep over here.

I'm sure you can go look around the forum and find the list. No one's here to serve anyone. We're here to help appreciative alliance members, but I thank you for your concern. Also next time, If you have an issue start your own thread next time please and don't hijack anothers.

Cheers.

I appreciate the reply. And the info. I was not hijacking the thread, I was merely reinforcing the main question and maybe suggesting reasons as to why he or she or any other individual may have been asking for the list without using the Shield. I also totaly agree that you all owe nobody nothing and I am grateful for the help and the work you all have accomplished and shared with everyone.
