Note 7 will not power on through usb to pc

Hi, I still have my note 7 and have been trying to see if I could get it usable again. the problem I got is I can power on when plug in to the mains. it displays 50% battery but soon as I unplug it goes off. and when I try just connecting to the pc via usb I cant get it to power on just the battery display stays lit. this is stopping me from completing adb.
any help much appreciated
