For all of you that are not able to send texts, I was in the same boat. I have since fixed the issue. Here is what I did. I'm not sure what is unnecessary, but it worked.

1. Clear data and cashe for your messaging app then remove it from your device.

2. Shut off the phone and call CS from a different phone. Ask them to remove your messaging service on your account. This will delete it out of their system.

3. Have them search to see if there is any traces of the hotline on your account still. If so they need to delete those traces.

4. Tell CS rep to reactivate messaging on your plan. It should rebuild on their end without any trace of the previous hotline.

5. Have them check one more time to see if there is any trace of the hotline.

6. Turn your phone back on and install the messaging app again.

This takes a competent Tech support rep on the Verizon end, but it worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you too.

After they reactivated me on 1/20, I could not send or receive SMS or MMS. I called customer service/tech support several times and no could could diagnose the issue. Finally, I called again earlier this week and a tech support guy was easily able to see the issue and fix it right away (he said it was on the hardware, switch side). So, I was fully functional again until late last night or early this morning, when I was hotlined again. MrLite- they did the same thing in my case I believe for the texting.

I called VZW again, spoke with both a rep and a manager. They said they absolutely could not turn me back on again until I activated another device. I told her I needed it for business and personal and wouldn't be able to get to a store but she insisted there was NOTHING she could do at all this time.

I also explained that I understood the recall to be voluntary rather than mandatory, and she said it was indeed mandatory. I asked her to send me an email with language to that effect. She said she would, but I haven't received anything from her yet.

24 hours after the first block and a successful reactivation I was blocked again. I called back and was unblocked, but I don't want to have to call in every day. Eventually my luck will run out and they won't help me. I'm flying to FL for a week so I switched over to my S6 so as not to risk flying with the N7. Hopefully a permanent solution is found while I'm down there.

lol, there is really solution as it's server (carrier) sided and not client sided (your mobile device). You have a few choices:
- switch to t-mobile
- call and demand they remove the hotline, some users are seeing success with this. sometimes you may need to call a few times.
- be lucky enough to have pre-recall n7 (gray battery), root it and change disguise the phone

Follow End13085's advice. Contact tech support - not customer service. I spoke with a supervisor in customer service and was told it COULDN'T be done. The next morning, I contacted technical support (866-221-4096). Didn't go through all the waiting and the back and forth that I did with customer service. I was going to activate an old Note (3) but the sim's number had been expired. I believe he turned it back on, to give me time to attain a new sim card. Nevertheless, it can be done.

Many have also had luck contacting a rep via live chat instead.

I was hotlined on both my note 7's on different numbers nearly 2 weeks apart. Brought old phones with micro sim slots, had those activated, went out to the parking lot and swapped sims. Both note 7's have been good for over a week now. I don't know if they'll be blocked again but the IMEI showing on my account shows the old Motorola phones I used for the new sim cards. So at least that is a temporary fix.

I moved my note 7 sim to an old phone in January and moved it back to the note 7 eight days ago and no issues yet. Noticed I haven't been getting texts or push notifications anymore either.

Hopefully they're finally past the crazy push to block everyone...
