I have a text message from 2 days ago from VZW that says 1/26. No consistency... what a mess!

I called and complained... they initially said they were powerless to do anything to reinstate data (even blamed Samsung).

After standing firm, she checked with a supervisor and they reactivated me, at least until 1/26. It's definitely real though.

My email from them said I'd be shut off on 1/30 and the text from them said 1/31. Noticed I had no data this morning, so tried to make a call. Routes to Verizon saying I've been recognized as a Note 7 customer and then goes through the blah blah about exchanging and then gives other menu options. Can't send or receive texts, but am able to receive phone calls. If they end up charging me for the phone, wouldn't they technically be selling me a recalled device? Also, if they charge me for the phone, how can they tell me I can't use a phone on my account that they sold to me?

This is such a BS move on their part. If this phone is SO dangerous and SO unsafe, how would charging full price for the phone or making the phone unusable on their network, cause the phone to be any less dangerous than it was before they charged for it or before they made it unusable? I understand why they claim they are doing it, but their is no logic behind it. It makes no sense and what they are doing isn't going to make everyone send their phone back. I think most people will keep the phone, if nothing more than out of spite, but charging for nor turning the phone off is going to get all of these phones back, so they haven't made anyone anymore safe like they say is their goal. They have only made people angry and even more defiant..

Sorry for the rant.. ;)

I doubt it will make a difference I'm going to switch to my old phone until after the deadline and see what happens when I switch back. Use the note 7 on WiFi for now.... [emoji54]

...
*** Verizon Users who have no service may want to follow the 'brian.geller approach' (thank you Brian :-)) call and press Verizon to re-connect,
even if only until early next week when Samsung will have published the 'Candid Report' and Note 7 users can make a more informed risk assessment
and decide where to next.

You know these guys are sneaky as hell. They will probably put some kind of a 'hold' or 'charge' or some other crap on the account but not technically say they sold you a Note 7, then 'release' it once you've returned the phone. I'm sure they've thought about creative ways to collect money from us without an actual 'sale of a Note 7', just like they've come up with this new 'solution' to make life super inconvenient for us, thus attempting to steer us into returning the phones.

My Note 4 is a SIM card swap away, but I will find out what VZW is going to do when we don't return the phones. I've decided to keep mine as a souvenir of this experience, even if they charge me for it. That'll be my final middle finger to them for all this hassle we've been put through.

To the very end! ;)

PS - Hypothetically speaking, what if you were to cancel service with VZW without returning the Note 7, then sign up with another carrier. Since you're not tied to VZW anymore, I wonder if they'd go through the hassle of somehow charging me for the phone even though I don't have service with them...

Argh these guys are such little bitches!! When they refunded me my money I took that as a release of liability. So if I want to keep using it, that's up to me, but if something happens VZW is not to blame. I was TOTALLY COOL with that arrangement. Then all of a sudden these little f*cks start pushing brick commands because now they want the phones back. But since they are so butt hurt that we've been able to defeat that, they have to come up with this nonsense of disrupting our calls/texts/data/whatever to get compliance, for a Voluntary recall.

I swear Samsung must really want to get these back, fix the battery issue then resell them to a 3rd world country to recoup the loss. If they would have made the battery removable from Design Day 1 this recall would have been fixed with a battery replacement!!

Anyway sorry, just had to squeeze out that one last rant. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

I'll let you know this week... that's what I'm going to do *IF* a test phone on another provider can get a signal where I live... (I have my doubts) Test phone to arrive Tuesday...

I have a friend that took a Verizon phone to one of these no-name providers, and he swears the coverage is identical...

What about Wi-Fi calling? Might be a stupid question on my end.

I brought that up and was a valid plan except the person who got blocked early said they were blocking data too. Unless you want to use it on wifi but then you don't need a carrier either.
