Teegunn wrote:9735 My only concern is getting charged full price on my Verizon account if I don't turn in my Note 7. Not worried about anything else. And I can delay this by telling them I don't have any way to return the phone since there isn't a corp verizon store within an hour of me. I live in the mountains and trucks can't deliver a box to my house up my drive (2' of snow on the drive right now). I mean I could probably delay sending back for a long time (already have). But if they just go ahead and charge my account? Don't want to get stuck paying $900 for a blacklisted phone. And they probably will hotline it again anyway. But yeah, I should probably just wait to activate my S7 Edge until I absolutely have to either turn in my N7 or they hotlined it and won't reactivate it. I also have several lines on my account, do they want to lose me as a customer? And a long time premium (my bill is over $300 a month) at that??
Good questions, all... I'm a 10-year, 4 line customer, probably have given them, what? $30,000 with phones and accessories? I guess at the point they ACTUALLY put it on your bill... then you could consider returning it, and they will take it right back off your bill... The other option is to hang Verizon out for about a month after they put it on your bill, *then* pay the $900 with a CC, and then dispute the amount with your credit card company, telling them you did it under duress, that you had a payment contract they cancelled w/o cause, etc. Whoa... that will screw them up. Because then Verizon will have to RESPOND in writing if there is no resolution via a phone call, which Verizon probably won't be prepared to make... No, it will likely get dropped off your CC and they and Verizon will battle that out, but it buys you 60 days at least, in addition to whatever other delays you can add... horrific snow and all

That's what I'm probably going to do if they ever actually bill me... Because I am willing to pay, but I do think there should be some kind of a discount... I'm thinking maybe... 50%. Everyone is different. Some people on this forum think they should get a free Ferrari or at least a full length Mink coat because of the hassle...

anyway, just a thought. They're just bullying all of us. Again, anything that goes on your bill can come off just as fast as it went on... and I just hate to see them winning by bullying us...
I agree with your take. And I think one way or the other, even if they did bill for the entire amount, one would eventually get out of having to pay that amount. I really do wish I had a viable option for a carrier here to switch to. There is only Verizon and AT&T that have any service here (not counting the subpar pre-paids who get secondary service piggy-backed off of VZ's towers) and Verizon is by far superior to AT&T. If there were other viable options, I would have more leverage. As is, VZ is the only realistic choice. But still, do they want to risk losing a very long term customer who has paid them well over 3 grand a year for well over a decade? They'd be idiots to risk that.

There are a couple of factors that should apply:
1. Juliesdroidsyn has previously noted that, in her understanding, it is unlawful to charge for a defective or dangerous product...
2. I'm trying to recall the form of your agreement with Verizon, pre-paid monthly plan -or- post-paid monthly plan (for how many months) and who abandoned that contract...
Please PM me and I'll outline my thinking and provide THREE situations in which I've successfully challenged a Carrier on behalf of my Clients and the Carrier has negotiated a very favourable to us outcome.
I don't want to provide details in open forum with "prying-eyes" around.
Also you have access to the work-around so a couple of reasons to PM me.

Yes, I believe it is illegal.
No, I cannot / have not found actual legal code to refer to backing my belief... maybe someone has posted actual legal code here, but if so, I've missed it.
Yes, I believe they will eventually try to do it anyway.
No, I don't believe we will be liable for the full amount if we choose to keep our phones, but we will have to fight it.
Yes, I believe paying it off via CC is the safest bet, because 1.) your CC company will not report you to the credit bureau on an open dispute, and 2.) you have just re-created your payment plan for your phone, if you decide you want to keep it, because you can pay your CC off monthly, whatever amount is settled on.

darrell.salaski wrote:9263 woke up this morning was using my phone then I lost internet tried to make phone call went straight to verizon customer support said ask for representative after verifying account
first person on phone said they could do nothing! I said someone needs to fix my phone!
she passed me to a supervisor,
she asked how my day was going I said TERRIBLE!
shes like why? I SAID CAUSE YOU KILLED MY PHONE!
she pause for a moment looked it up and seen I had a NOTE 7 she said my phone or line was HOTLINED, yeah so fix it!
well your NOTE 7 has a MANDATORY recall by Samsung and the Fed and that we need it back and we can sell you something else!
I'm like see that's the problem I DON'T want something else!
I stressed to her that an text msg that was received just 4 days ago that the Recall was VOLUNTARY and that I Voluntarily WANT TO KEEP MY NOTE 7!
she like well the federal ....
I said BS Voluntary means just that VOLUNTARY!
then I asked her If GM sells you a car then 3 months later tells you that a voluntary recall on them that if is not done you may be at risk of fire! I said it's my choice to fix the Issue and that GM won't come and take my car if I Don't!
well she paused for a moment and said well I can lift the HOTLINE status but it may get sent back out by the system again! too which I said, and at that Point I will call back in, and you can remove it again!
she said OKay
I said thank you, NOW MY DAY JUST GOT BETTER!
have a good day!
STRESS TO THEM ITS VOLUNTARY AND YOUR KEEPING YOU'RE PHONE DON't ACCEPT NO !!!
they will turn you back on!!
also If they were to try and Charge me for the phone! I Will tell them Sorry. weather or not I keep the phone or Return it YOU CAN NOT SELL ME A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PRODUCT You refunded me the money I spent on it SO YOU KNOW ITS DEFECTIVE!!
Love your approach and success... but they refunded you money because Sammy is paying them off, and it makes legal ownership a gray area. If you don't legally own the phone, then they have the right to do whatever they want with the phone you don't own. It is also a strong-arm move, as most people will cash that check without thinking about it, and then cave at the prospect of having to pay for it.
I have been asking... BEGGING them to charge me the balance! I can always haggle about the price later. I want to completely eliminate any question of legal ownership. What I have NOT heard so far, I don't think... is anyone who owns their phone outright that has been shut off... that I would like to see.
I bought my Verizon Note7 Note from some guy online who had a girl trying to get with him lol. She bought it outright, $800 paid in full. I bought it from him for $200 and I'm using it on T-Mobile cause Verizon phone's are unlocked. I'm still in service and doing fine.

Hi, I'm pretty much doing the same thing with my s7e. Except I'm waiting for N7A shield v2 before I even reconnect mine to wifi. Do you mind if I ask if you tried your sim back in your N7? Was it a success?
or when you think it may be safe? because at this time I'm not sure if I put my sim back in my N7 if it'll get hotlined or not.
Thanks!

I thought it would be easiest if I tried calling verizon to tell them to lift the block but they would not unblock me unless they were sending me another device. At one point she said it would just get blocked again and i said so but she still said verizon's policy was not to do it. Maybe i should have called earlier?
I'm not sure how switching the sim works my friend has a verizon phone note sure if its the s5 or s6 but if its the s6 with the same sim car do i just have that activated in the store then switch the sim into my note 7? I also have an iphone 5s for work that has the same sim card but its a different phone number so i'm not sure if that will work.
Also still have my old S4 that got water damaged and will not charge even after changing the charging port which is why i got the note7 in the first place. Sounds like i can get a sim cutter and use that sim card? Do i have to get that phone reactivated first even though i can not turn it on?
Since i don't know what i'm doing i'm just looking for my best option to try to keep my note7. Oh yeah i can still receive calls on my note7 but i do not think it gets every call that comes in.

So, anticpating my N7 getting the update, i bought a new Note 4. I took the sim card from the N7 and put it in my N4. It worked without a flaw. I am no longer using my N7 but will not return it. Can Verizon still charge me full price for the N7. How does Verizon know if I returned my N7? Does Samsung notify Verizon when you return the phone?
I heard of some people returning their phone and Verizon saying they did not.
I am waiting for a new shield.

If a new shield becomes available, can i put my original N7 Sim card back in my N7? Will Verizon block it at that point?
Any suggestions for this scenario?

Can a Verizon N7 be rooted? I tried but was not able to succeed. Is there a sure-fire way to root?

If Verizon charges you full price for N7, wouldn't they then be obligated to allow you service on that N7?

I am still up and running on Verizon (knock on wood). My date was the 27th. For some unknown reason, I cannot send or receive SMS or MMS messages. I can only text using Signal, WhatsApp, etc. I have actually called Verizon tech support several times and they have not been able to successfully restore it. The texts stopped working after they hotlined me on 1/20. I called to complain and they reinstated me, but no texting. I'm going to call them again today.
Unfortunately, I have now cracked the screen on my N7.

Probably no hope it getting that fixed.
