Chris0626 wrote: Sat Jun 10, 2017 10:21 pm Just found this group, so glad to have found you guys. I've been a dead set on keeping my Note 7 going from day one of the recall. I mistakenly accepted to install the last " no charge, death update the other night and have spent the past 2 days trying to figure out how to get it back.
I have a 2nd N7 new, at the home screen with green battery and no updates on it yet. I'm debating weather to attempt to use the shield V3 on my older N7 that has not had and issues since receiving it the day before the official release or gamble on the new one that I only ever ran to the home screen and powered down... Any thoughts?
From what I read, I have to post 5 times to have access?
Ive never rooted, sideloaded, phones and I'm fairly competent but it looks slightly intimidating, though the directions look thoroughly amazing...
Thanks again guys.

When we feel it is stable. one day or one year not sure.

Hi, I'm using an older method (link attached of what I did). I did the older adb script a few months ago and it is working phenomenally. What I like about it is it disables and literally hides the packages rather than just disabling, which I feel is more secure than just disabling. Are you having any issues where you feel Shield X isn't stable and has a glitch or something?

I also attached a screen shots of me trying to find the ota update packages

(Sorry, continuing from last post) Forgot to mention why I asked... My phone is filled up with seemingly useless stuff I've tried on it and it is slowing down. It won't let me do the Shield X method to disable packages without having done V3. So I'm wondering if it would work to factory reset the phone, set up Shield X, then use the previous script I used to disable the update rather than V3 script at that point? Just wondering how it'd all work and what exactly Shield X checks before I reset my phone. Also, Thanks for all you guys do! I appreciate any help!

v3 and ADB accomplish the same thing, just different ways.

Yes you could reset your phone install v3 so you now have a package manager and do the ADB script method to prevent from updates.

Using the v3 method the builtin package manager does not see the calc app.
In fact it took us a very long time to find a way to display the apps that were disabled by the v3 method, as they were hidden from the package manger. That problem alone pushed back the first release of the v3 app by a few weeks. It took some clever thinking and a nice workaround to show you apps disabled by the v3 method.

sweetnothings87 wrote: Sun Mar 12, 2017 11:05 am Sweet, I'm really wanting to reset my phone because it's been seriously lagging lately what's the best way to go about doing that to do avoid the bricking update and should I wait until version 3 is released?
Try "Wipe Cache Partition" in "Recovery Menu". That can help...i have often this Problen. A Wipe Cache help on my Note 7 and not Lagging again. Then, 7-14 Days i do it again.

I agree, my phone has been lagging and I'm starting to not receive phone calls/texts. (Already tried switching out my SIM at T-Mobile.) I've been wanting to run a wipe cache partition on my note 7 but noticed when I ran it on my dad's s7, the first thing it does before reaching the recovery menu is a Software Update >_<.

Have you heard of anyone accidently updating when performing a wipe cache partition? I downloaded a package disabler before they were all blocked from the app store. Is there a specific reason (ie. Root, specific disabler, etc.) why you can confidently perform them so often?
