Just one question, can you get hotlinned with out the sim card in the phone, at this ,moment trying to set it up via WIFi and install shield before putting sim card back on the phone. I also own a galaxy s7 edge what would happen if i used the sim card from that phone in my note 7?

The sim card is what establishes a connection between your carrier's service and your phone. If you have no sim card or service, your phone is a wi-fi device like any standard tablet. So, to answer your question - yes. Others have unlocked their phones and switched to MetroPCS or T-Mobile.
