Interested to see what develops from this thread. Our Note 7's could get bricked any day now via IMEI pushing calls to customer service. I do not want to go back to my Note 4....

It'll be cold day in hell before samdung's imperial style tries to effect the freedom of anything especially as silly as a cell phone. May not be now later next week or 2 years from now but progress will be made for the end users!

And about the imei situation, unless there is a black box in front of you it may be impossible to change the hardware level encryption with a good jig. Its shaped like a sim card but samsung forseen this and gave us what we thought was a nifty tray for smart and sim or dual sim. Bastards. would be cool to see how it turns out if ever overcame.
