Hi,
Looking to see if anyone is aware of an app that provides a phone dialler via wifi hotspot or Bluetooth connection?
Since my Note 7 has been blocked on my phone network I have been using my old Note 3 as my phone with my Note 7 connected via wifi hotspot when I leave the house.
I know I have to carry two phones but it has meant that I have been able to carry on effectively without changing any habits except for non-VoIP phone calls and SMS/MMS.
I found an app called "Tablet Talk" which enables my Note 7 to send and receive text messages over wifi hotspot or bluetooth but to make and receive calls you need to use a bluetooth headset.
Does anybody know of an app that can enable the phone dialler to control another phone dialler over wifi hotspot or bluetooth?
Thanks...

I had the same question. I read you can port your number to google voice for $20. I think you can still send texts via that as well. Let me know if you figure anything else out. Thanks!barnstorm wrote:8476 Hi,

I use Google Hangouts dialer and it even lets you use your own number for the caller ID.
Not sure what to about incoming calls. I am wondering if they block our calls will call forwarding still work? Then you could forward to something like Google voice...
I also wonder if they can charge us full price for our phone line if they aren't providing call service?

I just tested this out. I took my sim out of my note 7 and put it in my s6. I enabled mobile hotspot on my s6 and connected my note 7 to that hotspot. I set up google voice on my note 7 and placed a call via google hangouts as you suggested. Call was made perfectly and i was able to text out via the google voice app. I guess I'll be carrying two phones around if this whole new verizon announcement ends up being more than just hot air but I can live with thatjason.ratliff wrote:8565 I use Google Hangouts dialer and it even lets you use your own number for the caller ID.

No, you just need to get a number through google. You can set up an new google account and get one or add one to your existing gmail account.arnob.rahman wrote:8607 Do you have to pay for google voice? I have hangouts dialer and I can't seem to send texts

If you want to use your existing number, you can port that number to google voice. I think that costs between $10-20.

I use Textnow, it gives you a phone number, you can make and receive calls thru wifi, and text as well. Its free, you just have to use it once a week at least
