Sorry to double post, but I am in a flurry of panic trying to get everything installed before the update lol. I have a Note with ATT and I got hit with the 60%. I just came to the forum today since I found it, and would like to remove the 60% block and install the shield to protect myself from the big brick. Can you help me? I am trying to locate directions for a step by step as I am less techy, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
The steps to roll your firmware back are located in this link. Do that first, and then install the sheild app. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6
If you got the kill update and you have battery life you should be able to connect your N7 to a computer and download Odin then flash the stock recovery image back to the device and install Alliance Shield
I havent been hit with nay update yet, but I feel like I waited til the last minute to try and prevent it from happening. I used another tool that I read about on another forum, but am hoping to use this one also/instead of.
Back up & all is well!-
Whew!
For any who care, I re-flashed my firmware & immediately installed & updated shield. Be advised, my update was still lingering in the notification bar, but went away as soon as I turned the almighty shield on!
ooooh noooo!!! That's not good! So it's not a forced update then for Verizon? With the 60% & 30% updates, I didn't click the install later button, but just clicked the home button and the popup disappeared but it just stayed in the notification bar. The pop up only comes up like maybe once a week and I just keep clicking the home button and it pretty much closes it so you don't even have to click install later. Hope you all get back to 100% and get through the kill switch.
Wow that's crazy that they are already pushing the update out. I have a package disabler disabling system updates so I can't even get into that. But I wonder if I should enable it and make sure automatic updates are turned off lol
